Greetings St. Paul’s Church Family,

As many of you know I (Jennifer) have been dealing with severe back pain and related nerve pain since the spring of 2024 and have been off work since April 2024. I saw a surgeon in early May 2025 and was offered back surgery to help with some of the pain and difficulty walking, sitting, and standing. Things moved quickly after seeing the surgeon, and I had surgery with one overnight hospital stay on June 4, 2025. I am now 1-week post-op and taking things day by day at home. This surgery involves a longer recovery period and I will know more in the coming weeks and months about the success of the surgery. Jason and I are feeling hopeful, but individual days can be physically and emotionally difficult as I deal with pain, limited mobility, and the unknown. My primary recovery over the next 6 weeks or more involves resting and daily walks. I can’t resume physiotherapy exercises until the fusion is more stable and I am cleared by my surgeon. I am thankful for the beautiful summer weather for outdoor walks and rehab. We haven’t been able to attend church services in person very often over the past year, but I want to say how thankful I am for the prayers, cards, walks, visits, messages, and practical help that you have provided. We continue to join you online and in Spirit for Sunday services. I definitely welcome encouraging messages, phone calls, and neighborhood walks as I go through the recovery process and move into the next stage of this journey.

Please contact the church office to receive Jennifer’s contact information if you would like to reach out.

Yours in Christ,

Jennifer and Jason S.
