Good day St. Paul's,

To comply with provincial restrictions, we will continue to physically distance for Sunday services. Please maintain a one pew buffer between yourself and other parishioners and, if in the same row, please keep at least 2 metres from those from other households. Passing the peace will once again be done as visually passing of the peace from your seats but we will continue to serve communion as we were the last few weeks. Masking will also continue. Masks continue to be available for those without one.

Our 10AM Sunday service will also continue to be available online as a live-stream and Sunday's bulletin is attached here. To find our live-stream service, please visit our website and visit the Events tab and click on the “St. Paul’s Sunday Service” event to find links to our YouTube Channel.

As always, please read on for more announcements.

Sincerely,
RJ Chambers
Office Administrator, St. Paul's Anglican Church - Edmonton

Community Corner for Sunday, October 3
  • The book study for “21 Things You Might Not Know About the Indian Act” by Bob Joseph begins this week. Please contact Michelle for more information about the book and study group and meeting dates and time.
  • Please plan to join us for a screening of the movie “The Secret Path” after church on Sunday, October 17. This movie acknowledges a dark part of Canada’s history with the hope of starting our country on a road to reconciliation. It features Gord Downie’s music and the graphic novel by Jeff Lemire, telling the story of Chanie Wenjack, a twelve year-old boy who died in 1966 after running away from Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School to return to his family over 400 miles away. You can also watch the movie at https://secretpath.ca/#Home
  • Thanksgiving is next weekend! Please consider pledging financial support to any of the organizations who assist with Thanksgiving meals or food security in Edmonton, including Hope Mission, The Mustard Seed, Bissell Centre, the West End Seniors Centre, and the Food Bank, to name a few.

RJ Chambers has given notice and will be leaving the role of St. Paul’s Office Administrator in the coming months. We want to thank RJ for his work over the past few years and want to wish him the very best in his future endeavors. If you, or anyone you know, is looking for a part-time administrative position, please let Rev. Myron know.

Funeral Expenses for Patience Oduro
As many of you know, Patience Oduro passed away recently. One of Patience’s final wishes was to make Ghana her final resting place. Her family is preparing to move Patience’s body but would appreciate any donations towards the expense of those arrangements. If you wish to financially contribute towards those expenses, please contact the office and we will connect you with Patience's family.

St. Paul's Staff Working from Home
The Diocese has requested that all church staff return to a work-from-home model except for work that cannot be done at home. All staff will be available through email. If you need to visit the office, please call ahead to ensure someone is onsite or request a meeting time with the person you need to see.

Block Party Postponed
Due to the Covid restrictions recently announced by the Province of Alberta, St. Paul's has decided to postpone the block party to later in the winter or the spring. We look forward to hosting this event at a future date without restrictions.

Kid’s Club is In-Session
Kids Club (previously "Children's Ministry" and "Sunday School”) is for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 6. We get together every Sunday morning during the service to talk together, learn stories from the Bible, and do crafts and activities. We also have a few fun events together throughout the year. If you are joining online, we start just after 10:00AM. Contact the office for Zoom details.

Youth is In-Session
Youth Group is for those in Grades 7 to 12. Led by our Youth Director, Abbi Harding, the youth meet most Sunday mornings during the service. There is a calendar already available for other activities that are planned for the upcoming year.

Last Chance to Support Wendell and Ratanak International – Ride for Refuge
As a team event, Wendell and his workplace have arranged for a group of cyclists to participate in Ride for Refuge on October 2. They will be raising funds for Ratanak International. Many at St. Paul’s are aware of the important work Ratanak is doing to free exploited Cambodians. If anyone would like to support this work, please visit Wendell’s team site and support any of the riders who have not yet achieved their fundraising targets: https://rideforrefuge.org/search?q=epcor+cycle+breakers

St. Paul’s is Recruiting Service Team Volunteers!!
If you are not currently part of a service team at St. Paul’s, it is a great way to get involved and get to know people. The service team members read the readings, take the offering, serve as greeters, and help with coffee cleanup the weeks they are scheduled (6-week rotation). We would love to add a person or two to a couple of the teams as we enter the new school year so if you would like to get involved in this way, please contact the office or talk to RJ any time you see him.
