Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries is an organization located in Vancouver, BC, serving and equipping the Church to support people’s mental health and wellbeing. Their flagship program, The Sanctuary Course, was created to equip churches as they seek to become sanctuaries where individuals with mental health challenges feel safe, supported, and a sense of belonging. Each session explores key mental health topics, drawing upon the insights of mental health professionals, church leaders, and people with lived experience. Please take a look at their website sactuarymentalhealth.org for a brief introduction to their program. We are exploring the possibility of running this course in the fall, to better equip each of us at St Paul’s to support mental health and wellbeing. Topics covered include Mental Health, Mental Illness, Stigma, Recovery, Companionship, Caregiving, and Self-Care.
