Community Corner for Sunday, June 12, 2022

Happy Father’s Day! We want to acknowledge all the fathers in our parish and circle who contribute so greatly to their children (and grandchildren!). The ways in which you care for your children are valuable and important, and they last beyond childhood. For a reflection on the importance of fathers in the lives of their kids, please read here and here.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is on Tuesday, June 21, 2021. It is a day set aside to celebrate and reflect on the many contributions and cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Metis people across Canada. For some history on this day, please see wikipedia.org/wiki/ National_Indigenous_Peoples_Day. For resources listed at the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton, please see edmonton.anglican.ca/what-we-do/social-justice--2/pages/ resources-indigenous-social-justice-june-2021. Do not miss the chance to see the vibrancy, diversity and deep gifting of Indigenous Peoples across Canada.

Indigenous Canada is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta that explores Indigenous histories and contemporary issues in Canada. They have partnered with Coursera to offer this course for free. Please see this link for more information and to register https://www.ualberta.ca/admissions-programs/online-courses/indigenous-canada/index.html

MoveIn Edmonton Prayer Journey

Lauren and Asher H. invite you to join them and their MoveIn team to do a 5 km prayer walk through Central McDougall and McCauley on June 18 at 10:00 am. This global event has people praying and walking through high needs neighborhoods in places like Jakarta, Hamburg, and San Salvador. We will join with them in our small corner of the world to lift up prayers for the many needs in our neighborhood. Visit the button below to register. While the registration will give you the option to fundraise for your walk, we welcome all to join whether you choose to fundraise or not. We hope you can join us!
