Community Corner for July 31, 2022

Looking for a good day trip in August? To Do Canada is another great website with many ideas to help plan your summer days. For example, their list of 15 Provincial Park Daytrips from Edmonton includes recommendations such as Aspen Beach (on Gull Lake), Coal Lake (with a 5km loop trail nearby) or Thunder Lake (with a farmers’ market on Saturdays). They have descriptions of each recommended park, and each park provides day use picnic areas, places to explore, and a variety of ways to get around once you are there – boat, bike or on foot.

St Andrew’s United Church, located in Crestwood at 148 St and 99 Ave, hosts Concerts on Lawn for everyone to enjoy. July 29 features Ido Van der Laan, a singer-songwriter with a penchant for writing unforgettable melodies and warm lyrics. August 5 features Mark Feduk, known for his disctint blend of sound, style and imagination. Concerts start at 7pm. Please bring a friend and lawn chairs.

Are you a senior in need of help with housekeeping, home maintenance or yard clean up? The SouthWest Edmonton Seniors Association operates a Seniors Home Supports Program to help with these and other services. Please contact Barbara N. at 780-860-2931 or hs@swedmontonseniors.ca to set up services. Visit their website at www.seniorshomesupports.com for more information.

Furniture Needed

Staff at the Metis Capital Housing Corporation have reached out to us at St Paul's in the hopes we could help locate furniture for two of their clients. They are looking for a double or queen sized bed for one, and a table and chairs for a senior who is moving into a smaller home. Please contact Michelle S. or email michelle@stpauls-anglican.ca if you have these items. Please get the word out that we are looking for these items!
