  Community Corner for August 7

Community Corner for August 7

Please MARK YOUR CALENDARS! We are having our Fall Kick-off BBQ and Block Party on Sunday, September 11 following church. We will have great food, fun games, activities and prizes! It will be a good time to catch up with one another, and we encourage you to invite friends and neighbours to join us for a fabulous afternoon!

The traditional name for Edmonton is Amiskwaciy Waskahikan, which means “Beaver Hills House”. The City of Edmonton has many excellent Indigenous learning opportunities and experiences. Click HERE for a good list of year-round celebrations and festivities. One organization to highlight is The Canadian Native Friendship Centre, which has a two-fold mission: “Bettering the lives of the Indigenous community in cultural awareness since 1962.” Click HERE to visit their website and access the events and programs they offer.

Did you know that Edmonton’s River Valley Alliance has created a scavenger hunt for Edmontonians? Visit their website HERE for more information about the hunt, and discover a great organization working hard to keep us informed about our beautiful river valley and the many trails we all enjoy.

Furniture Needed

Staff at the Metis Capital Housing Corporation have reached out to us at St Paul's in the hopes we could help locate furniture for two of their clients. They are looking for a double or queen sized bed for one, and a table and chairs for a senior who is moving into a smaller home. Please contact Michelle S. at PHONE or email michelle@stpauls-anglican.ca if you have these items. Please get the word out that we are looking for these items!
