We are looking forward to welcoming the Synod of the Diocese of the Arctic to St Paul's on Sunday, May 11th. The synod meets every three years, this year in Edmonton due to the cost and complexity of gathering in the North. This synod is unique as the members will elect both diocesan and suffragan (assistant) bishops to succeed those who have retired and moved. God willing, the newly elected bishops will be consecrated during the Sunday service at St Paul's, which will be led by Archbishop Greg K-W. and their synod members. Please pray for the delegates as they prepare to travel south, and for the discernment of new leadership. And be ready to celebrate with them on May 11 at the 10am service, with lunch to follow!
As we anticipate this service, please be aware of a few things:
Firstly, parking will be a challenge, especially as the diocese will be transporting many of their attendees by bus. So please plan to keep the alley open for the large busses to navigate. Secondly, we are hoping to be very hospitable that day and will need volunteers to and assist with orienting attendees to our spaces & materials and other tasks. If you are able to assist with greeting or other tasks that day, or previous days, please email office@stpauls-anglican.ca.
Thirdly, we plan to have options for people to donate either to St Pauls or to the Arctic Diocese (or both). If you plan to donate that day, please be aware how to designate it to the right place.
