The Diocese of Edmonton’s Safe Church Policy identifies that healthy boundaries are a measure of how we love our neighbours as ourselves and love one another as Christ loves us (Mark 12:31, John 13:34). At all times, the Diocese of Edmonton upholds the following standards of respect and safety for priests, staff, volunteers, and parishioners. This includes any interaction, whether in-person or online. All clergy, staff, committee members, and volunteers within the diocese are especially responsible to uphold these boundaries and set an example for all within our diocese. Healthy boundaries include: Respectful physical touch, space and visibility; interactions with minors (including never being alone with a minor who is not their own); respectful language, and; respect in agency and personal. There are also unacceptable behaviours that violate boundaries. Please visit HERE to review the most recent update of the Safe Church Policy, as well as more details about boundaries.
