The two new banners hanging at the front of the church are intended to enhance your worship, directing your thoughts towards God and his words.
The waterfall banner is entitled, "Abundance". A slow trickle of water begins pouring out of the amphora (pitcher), which soon gushes into a waterfall. Each vessel fills and overflows into the river at the bottom. There is an endless pouring: an endless giving. All vessels receive even though all are different. We could consider the water representing God's love or grace, the Holy Spirit, refreshment, a sign of hope, or life. The vessels could be people or communities. Let your own reflections bring you meaning. What's key is abundance for everyone. “Abundance” was designed by Isabella Krohn and quilted by Rosalie Freund. Abigail Harding, Jodi Penner, and Rosalie Freund stitched the three-dimension appliqué. It was completed in November 2025.
The vine and grapes banner is entitled "Abide". This banner depicts a bountiful harvest. To achieve bounty in our lives we need to think of ourselves as branches connected to the sturdy, life-giving vine, which is Christ. We abide through the pruning and tying of the canes to the supports. We abide when the hot sun threatens to burn the leaves. We abide even as the roots and leaves are eaten by insects and worms. Yet, gradually, the fruit on the branches ripens, becoming lush and ready for harvest. God, the vinedresser, lovingly works in the vineyard. As we allow ourselves to be cared for by him, with the support of Christ the vine, we will produce sweet and bountiful fruit. “Abide”, was designed and created by Abigail Harding and Rosalie Freund. They were assisted by a large number of “grape makers” from the parish of St. Paul. It was completed in April 2026. Thanks to all of the grape makers who helped make "Abide" produce fruit!
