St. Paul’s, Edmonton, is excited to announce our Tent Theology Lent program with Dr. Stephen Backhouse for Lent 2022! Our sessions will take place on Wednesdays during Lent 2022 at 7pm, and will be hybrid sessions, live-streamed on the web simultaneously with in-person attendance. The livestream can be accessed HERE.

Tent Theology (www.tenttheology.com) is an initiative out of the U.K. founded by political theologian and podcaster Dr. Stephen Backhouse that seeks to “educate the activated and activate the educated.” St Paul’s is partnering with Tent Theology to bring this programming to the Parish of St Paul and Diocese of Edmonton because we believe that theology only for a few especially smart or nerdy Christians or those in leadership positions. Instead, rooted in Scripture, it is the practice of thinking, speaking and acting about God as excellently as possible, which has huge relevance for every Christian as we seek to live out our faith.

Our program this Lent explores the Christian practice of fasting and its relationship to the Christian imagination – that is, how Christians “imagine” or think about the world and themselves and God and seek to live their lives. Dr. Backhouse, in conversation with a panel from St Paul’s, will delve into how fasting as it relates to issues of power, personal holiness, and the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Join us!
