The Diocesan Safe Church Policy states that we all must take ownership of safety in our communion as we, together, walk with God who loves justice and hates oppression (Psalms 11, 33, 72, 99, Isaiah 1, Luke 4:18-19). Our commitments come from God, who is a refuge for the abused and never ignores their cry (Psalm 9:9, 12). Our community seeks to embody Christ’s priority of justice for the vulnerable, especially children. Jesus calls us to be “wise as serpents” (Matthew 10:16). Our diocese is committed to being educated about abuse and taking responsibility to uphold our policy. All persons within our diocese should experience an environment of safety and one that is free from any form of abuse or harassment. We encourage all parishioners to become informed about the Safe Church policy, as shared knowledge of the policy improves the fabric of care in our community.
