June is National Indigenous History Month—a time to celebrate, learn from, and reflect on the
distinct cultures, traditions, and enduring contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis nations
across Turtle Island (the traditional name for North America, including the lands currently known as
Canada).
Please help yourself to an Indigenous Engagement Card from our greeters today. Looking forward to
September 30, 2026, the next National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, there are several activities
you can engage in over the summer. Consider supporting Indigenous artists, writing your own land
acknowledgement, exploring the City of Edmonton’s Indigenous Framework, taking the free 12-
week Indigenous Canada course, or volunteering with an Indigenous non-profit.
