Land Acknowledgement Workshop
June 14, following the service
Join us for a hands-on workshop to move beyond standard scripts and learn how to write a deeply personal, meaningful land acknowledgement. Together, we will explore how to ground our gratitude in personal reflection, local research, and genuine respect for the land, water, and its original stewards. Please come prepared with some details about the areas where you live, work, or were born and raised, including any family history of living in different treaty areas or unceded lands.
As we prepare for our own Land Acknowledgement Workshop on June 14, we invite you to step out into the wider Edmonton community to listen, learn, and celebrate National Indigenous History Month at these upcoming local events:
Pathways mêskanâs: Celebrating Indigenous Culture
Sunday, June 14 | University of Alberta Botanic Garden (Parkland County)
Looking for a meaningful way to spend your afternoon after our church workshop? Head out to the spectacular Indigenous Peoples Garden for an afternoon of art, fashion, music, dance, and traditional foods. A highlight of the day will be a sacred ceremony introducing a new tipi to the gardens—a beautiful opportunity to witness and honor traditional protocols.
5th Annual Indigenous Night Market
June 20–22 | River Cree Resort & Casino (Enoch Cree Nation)
Experience a vibrant outdoor market showcasing incredible First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists, entrepreneurs, and food trucks. This weekend-long event is a wonderful way to actively support Indigenous-owned businesses while taking in live cultural performances right on our neighboring Treaty 6 territory.
