Focus on Missions encourages developing relationships with others beyond our normal sphere of influence to express the good new of God’s kingdom. The parish currently supports several missionaries and projects with local, regional and international connections. Gay and I hope to use this blog to keep you informed about these missional endeavours and how you can be involved. One activity that our Committee promotes is “30 Days of Prayer for Muslims”. With the current Ramadan season just over, I am aware that many seeking to please Allah have had dreams and visions about Jesus. Such dramatic encounters remind me of Nabeel Qureshi’s story, which he recounted in his book, “Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus.” Both Gay and I consider this to be one of the best biographies ever. Nabeel went on to be a powerful speaker and apologist for Christ until his untimely death at age 34. Between 2013 and 2016 he was a speaker with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM). Nabeel often referred to Ravi as his uncle. This past week, Ravi himself passed into the Lord’s presence. He was one of the world’s most influential and respected apologists. A tribute to his life and ministry can be found here: https://mailchi.mp/4c6437f83c39/obituary-ravi-zacharias?e=1921751b2d. Having heard him on a few occasions, I think what impressed me most about his ministry was how “He saw the objections and questions of others not as something to be rebuffed, but as a cry of the heart that had to be answered. People weren’t logical problems waiting to be solved; they were people who needed the person of Christ.” He had the ability to discern “the question behind the question” and to speak to the heart of the questioner. Let us remember with gratitude these inspired servants of God. And let us continue to pray for the truth of Christ to set people free.A reminder of the missionaries and projects we support:Don & Sandi Howell, OMF (Toronto)Ron & Lois, PALM Ministry Association (Edmonton)Scott & Olga, Navigators (E.
