Session 5: Companionship – Companionship is a feeling of belonging and fellowship, and it affirms our dignity and fundamental worth. In this session, we learn about the significant importance of friendship and community support to mental wellbeing. In this session’s video, we meet Cheryl, who lives with anxiety. Anxiety disorders are characterized by significant and persistent fear and stress, as well as a range of physical symptoms. Some anxiety disorders are also characterized by panic attacks.

The Sanctuary Course is an 8-week course that gives participants a chance to broaden their understanding of mental health from a Christian perspective. Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries is a Christian non-profit organization that was founded in 2012 for the purpose of equipping churches in Canada to love and support community members with lived experience of mental health challenges. Please take a look at their website HERE for a brief introduction to the program.
