Mark your calendar! June 1st is “Intergenerational Day” in Canada, and we need cross-generational connections! There are so many things you can do to mark the day. On June 1st, take the time to find someone from a different generation (i.e. a decade older or younger than you). Whether you simply make eye contact, hold the door open for them, and tell them to “Have a good day!”, or you make time for a short walk & shared meal, or simply write them a card, you’ll have made a difference! The day is an opportunity to create a more age-friendly society by giving older adults and youth a chance to connect and better understand each other. It is intended as a chance to celebrate the wealth of experience and knowledge that seniors contribute, and for different generations to share and learn from each other.
Our next Community Dinner is on Saturday, May 24. St Paul's family, you are invited to share in every Community Dinner hosted at St Paul's! Doors are open at 4:30 and the meal is served at 5:00pm. Students from the Cultural Connections Institute – The Learning Exchange have volunteered to serve the meal and greet our guests this month, so we’re just looking for a few more volunteers to set up the hall and clean up afterwards. Come and enjoy a delicious meal and good conversation with other guests. Sign up to help on the board in the side entrance to the church, or online at www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B4CABAF28A5FCC70-56795449-may24.
“Fill The Fridge” is a sweet little treat from St Paul’s to the staff at Grovenor Elementary School as they head into the last few weeks of the school year! We’re taking a collection of goodies over to their staff room on Tuesday, May 20, to encourage them and say “thank you” for all the ways they care for and educate the kids of Grovenor and the surrounding area. Please pray for the wellbeing of the staff, students and families connected there!
