There are many fundraisers coming up for the non-profits that serve Edmonton’s inner city and unhoused population. Consider donating or participating in The Coldest Night of the Year on Feb 28. The Anglican parish of St Augustine in Spruce Grove is raising funds for the Parkland Food Bank –info on donations or participation can be received from Jim E. at jimegeto@gmail.com. Also, Cold Hands Warm Hearts on Feb 21, the outdoor winter walk fundraiser for Hope Mission. BLACK HISTORY MONTH (February) gives us many opportunities to learn about and celebrate Black Heritage and cultures. The EPL Library is honouring the contributions of black people, with features about Antiracism, Black Canadians, book recommendations and more. On that page, you will also notice there is also a special evening planned for Feb 17, 2026, featuring Edmonton's current Historian Laureate, Donna Coombs-Montrose. The presentation will include an AfroQuiz, stories from the Black Community in Jasper Place, a Q&A session, followed by some time to mix & mingle.
