“Fill The Fridge” is a sweet little treat from St Paul’s to Grovenor Elementary School’s staff as they head into the last few months of the school year! We’re taking a collection of goodies over to their staff room in mid-April to offer our encouragement and say “thank you” for all the ways they care for and educate the kids of Grovenor and the surrounding area. Please remember to pray for the wellbeing of the staff, students and families connected there! We would love your help with writing cards to each of the staff; please contact Michelle Schurek to take part.
April is National Poetry Month, and this year’s theme is LAND AND SEA! So much in scripture is poetry, and gives voice to the emotional, mental and spiritual experiences of our lives. If you want to do something special for National Poetry Month and need some ideas, check out the League of Canadian Poets at https://poets.ca/offerings/programs/npm-mnp/ or take some time to search at the library or online. We’d love to hear about your favorite poet or poetry.
Enoch is hosting their 31th Spring Pow Wow on May 2-3 2026 at the River Cree! Their Summer Pow Wow is July 10-12, 2026. “Pow Wow 101: Pow Wow time is the Indigenous people’s way of meeting together to join in dancing, singing, visiting, renewing old friendships, making new ones, and most importantly, celebrating and honoring traditions. Quintessential to this celebration are the dancers and singers. The songs of the Big Drum are sung by those who sit around it, and the beating sound is often said to parallel the heartbeat of Mother Earth. Each song is begun by the Lead Singer who is often the main carrier of many songs. Those are the songs that have been learned throughout the years and passed down from generations.” If you are interested in going as a group, please contact Michelle Schurek.
